The ICC should be on trial not Saif Gaddafi

This gallery contains 2 photos.

The International Criminal Court has demanded that Libya hand over former leader Muamar Gaddafi‘s son Saif after his release by an armed militia last week, but it is the Court, not Saif, which should be on trial.

One word tells you all you need to know about the ICC, and that’s ISIS: These terrorists have perpetuated the most appalling crimes in Libya, not least the ritual execution — filmed and uploaded onto its website — of Egyptian Coptic Christians on a beachfront two years ago. The result? No indictments from the ICC.

The ICC is a kangaroo court if ever there was one, and its pursuit of Saif smacks of politics. Consider that for years he pushed for reforms in Libya, and consider also that he commanded no military nor police units. Indeed he was not in a position to commit war crimes. And yet the Hague wants him for crimes against humanity…………………………. Continue reading

Gaddafi’s son, Saif Al-Islam, released from jail

This gallery contains 1 photos.

After five years of detention in a mountain prison, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been released from detention as part of an amnesty deal. He is now among his uncles and relatives in the eastern Libyan city of al-Bayda, according to local reports.

Gaddafi was released late Saturday, according to the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Battalion, a militia in control of Zintan, which lies in the hills southwest of the capital Tripoli. The group is loyal to General Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army. United States Marine Corp General Thomas Waldhauser, the commander of U.S. Africa Command, has accused Haftar of being backed by the Russian Federation.

Saif al-Islam was captured by the Zintan rebels in November 2011 while attempting to flee to Nigeria after opposition forces captured Tripoli. While he was sentenced to death in July 2015 in a mass trial for officials in the toppled government founded by his father, he was later relieved of the sentence in the general amnesty that was subsequently passed.

Gaddafi is wanted by the International Criminal Court for his alleged involvement in the killing of protesters. The court has largely been discredited across the African continent as a neocolonial tool of Western capitals……………………….. Continue reading

Saif al-Islam is alive and free – Saif al-Islam è vivo e libero (Eng-Ita) +Video

‘We continue our resistance to full revenge. I am in Libya, alive and free’ – Gaddafi’s son, Saif al-Islam.

The son and heir apparent of the late Colonel Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, is still in Libya. He is free and will go on with resistance, he reportedly claimed in an address to supporters aired by Syria’s Arrai TV Channel, loyal to the Libyan ex-leader.

“We continue our resistance. I am in Libya, I am alive, free and intend to go to the very end and exact revenge,” ‘Russia’s RIA Novosti’ news agency quotes Saif al-Islam as saying on the Syrian Channel on Saturday night.

“I say go to hell, you and NATO behind you. This is our country, we live in it, we die in it and we are continuing the struggle,” Saif al-Islam said, according to Al-Arabiya news channel.

I received a message from tribes in Bani Walid about a general consensus between them to respond to threats from the gangs of rats ─ the revolutionaries and the NATO alliance,” Saif al-Islam said.

Earlier contradictory reports suggested Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has been either killed or captured in the western Libyan town of Zliten and was in the hands of the country’s National Transitional Council.

Egypt’s Nile TV Channel reported on Thursday, October 20, that he had managed to flee Sirte and find shelter in the desert.

According to RIA Novosti, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has already got the support of the tribes loyal to his father, who promised to fight against the current government and take revenge for the killing of the colonel and his son Mutassim. Some experts now suggest the Libyan conflict could now be prolonged and grow from a political into an interethnic struggle.

Thirty-nine-year-old Saif al-Islam is the second son of Muammar Gaddafi and carried out public relations and diplomatic roles for his father. Western-educated and the most-recognized Libyan official, he was often viewed as Colonel’s successor and a possible reformer.

(Foto AFP / Imed Lamloum)

Seif El Islam: “I am well and…damn you all rats”

Seif El Islam: “I am well and…damn you all rats”.

The son of the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed on Thursday with his other son Moatassim (…maybe…NDR)), near the city of Sirte, Seif El Islam, said yesterday that he was well, putting an end to reports saying he would be dead or arrested by the fighters of the NTC.

The son of the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed on Thursday with his other son Moatassim, near the city of Sirte, Seif El Islam, said yesterday that he was well, putting an end to reports saying he would be dead or arrested by the fighters of the NTC.

In an audio recording, broadcast by pro-Gaddafi TV channel “Erraï”, and addressing the loyalist elements of the regime of his father, he assured that “the resistance will continue until the end.”

Seif El Islam repeated the famous phrase of his father, addressing the forces of the National Transitional Council (NTC) and NATO forces, “Toz (damn) you all rats and Nato.”

The message of Seif El Islam on the TV channel “Errai” lasted only a few seconds, which means that it was live and that Seif is still on the Libyan territory.

Pro-Gaddafi Information sites announced, just before the message of Seif, that he had taken the title of leader of the resistance and had pro mission to avenge the blood of his father.

Seif El Islam would be designated by the Libyan tribes that remained loyal to his father, which suggests that the conflict in Libya may take a tragic turn given the tribal nature of the country.

According to the same sources, the son of the deceased leader would have also appointed former intelligence chief of the regime of his father as Minister of Defense, after the death of former Defense Minister Abu Bakr Yunis.

The names Muammar and Moatassim were given to brigades remaining loyalists of the regime of Gaddafi.

Saif al-Islam – Tripoli, 23/08/2011

Even Sky News has to admit that there are strange things going on. First Saif Al-Islam would have been captured, but here he is, with many green followers telling the journalists that the Rebels have fallen into a trap.

NATO and the Rebels might not be as welcome as the western media would want us to believe.

Saif Gaddafi tells West: You cannot win

Gaddafi’s son: US looks on Libya as McDonald’s

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, Gaddafi’s son:

US looks on Libya as McDonald’s

Great speech of Saif al-Islam, July 1, 2011 (RT News)
USA looks upon Libya as fast food expecting a fast war and a quick victory, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of the Libyan leader wanted by the ICC, told RT. But the West will never get what they want, he added.

“Many countries, Iran and North Korea are among them, told us it was our mistake to give up, to have stopped developing long-range missiles and to become friendly with the West. Our example means one should never trust the West and should always be on alert – for them it is fine to change their mind overnight and start bombing Libya,” said Saif al-Islam Gaddafi.

“One of our biggest mistakes was that we delayed buying new weapons, especially from Russia, and delayed building a strong army. We thought Europeans were our friends; our mistake was to be tolerant with our enemies”.

Gaddafi’s son was charged by the International Criminal Court on June 27 for a “state policy aimed at deterring by any means, including lethal force, the demonstrations of civilians against the Gaddafi regime” alongside his father Muammar Gaddafi and his military intelligence chief General Abdullah al-Sanoussi. However the Libyan leader’s son sees the charge differently.

“They do not accuse me of policy, they accuse me of killing people, and everybody knows it. For me to be responsible for killing people was a joke. This would have happened anywhere in the world if people in the street moved towards a military site trying to steal ammunition or arms. Of course the military would prevent them!” stated Saif al-Islam Gaddafi.

The son of the Libyan leader denied either he or his father had ordered the killing of protesters.

“No, nobody ordered to kill them, the guards just fired, that’s it. And they do not need permission to do that.”
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi said the West has only one target – Libya. “The country is a like a piece of cake for them – it is rich, it has gas, oil and money, so they must kill my father to get the cake. What they don’t understand is that the fighting will not stop if my father goes. Libyans will continue fighting until one day the country will be back to the Libyans,” concluded Saif al-Islam Gaddafi.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi:

“What they don’t understand is that the fighting will not stop if my father goes. Libyans will continue fighting until one day the country will be back to the Libyans” .
